PRIVACY ~ SAY NO TO ID CARDS ~
FREEDOM
PRIVACY
Privacy International (PI) is a human
rights group formed in 1990 as a watchdog on surveillance and privacy invasions
by governments and corporations. PI is based in London, England, and has an
office in Washington, D.C. PI has conducted campaigns and research throughout
the world on issues ranging from wiretapping and national security, to ID cards,
video surveillance, data matching, medical privacy, and freedom of information
and expression.
RFID chips
This is a kind of automatic identification system. An RFID chip attached to
an item transmits data like ID or location information, or specific
details about the tagged item (such as price, colour, etc).
As the technology is refined, more pervasive - and invasive - uses for RFID tags
are in the pipeline. They are already in use in some products. They can easily
be fitted in all new cars.
ID
cards
"Instead of wasting hundreds of millions of pounds on compulsory ID cards
as
the Tory Right demand, let that money provide thousands more police
officers on
the beat in our local communities" ~~ Blair 1995 ~~
GMES
The European Union is building its own network of spy satellites allowing
Brussels to ensure nations and private individuals are obeying its policies. The
multi-billion-pound system, known as "Global Monitoring for Environment and
Security" (GMES), should be up and running by 2010, a spokesman said.
A commission memo also acknowledged that GMES would play a key role in the
"implementation, review and monitoring of EU policies", including watching for
agriculture and fisheries fraud and boosting "internal security"
Now imagine a combination of some the above. You will be tracked anywhere at any
time!!!
